The kits have been totaled and it's official: Central Mass AIDS Africa has raised enough money to sponsor
550 Caregiver Kits!

Hey all,
We are entering the very last days of fundraising. The total number of Kits we have sponsored approximates at 400 Kits. We are still hoping to meet our goal of 500 Kits sponsored.

Good news! The singles group at Grace Baptist held a yard sale last weekend and they raised over $2800, the equivalent of 100 Caregiver Kits! They raised enough money to provide 20 caregivers with enough supplies for an entire year! We are so thankful for the members of the singles group all of their hard work putting this yard sale together.

On another note, the Hope Chapel Youth Group is hosting a car wash tomorrow in the hopes of getting a few more kits sponsored. It is in the center of Sterling, MA at the Butterick Building. It is going to run from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. We hope to see you there!

Since the creation of Central Mass AIDS Africa, it has been a very long and winding road to where we are today. This project and the people working on it have encountered more blessings along the way than we can count. We want to thank everyone for their participation in CMAA fundraising and that everyone realizes the huge impact these Caregiver Kits will have on the lives of those suffering from AIDS.

The response at Holden Chapel was overwhelmingly positive and all the students seemed really interested in getting involved!

This weekend, Grace Baptist is hosting a yard sale to benefit Central Mass AIDS Africa. It will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Oct 17th at Faith in Christ Tabernacle Church, Lincoln and Mechanic Streets, Marlboro. Go and check it out while supporting CMAA!

Hey everybody! It's time for an update on the status of the fundraising for Central Mass AIDS Africa so far.

All of the churches combined have raised approximately $4000! Although we are thrilled about that number, it is only about 1/4 of our goal of $15,000.

So this is definitely crunch time for CMAA with all of the money due to World Vision by October 25th. If you haven't already, you can sponsor a kit at www.centralmassaidsafrica.org through First Giving or if you feel so called, go out and get kits sponsorships from friends, family, neighbors, etc.

This past week, Suzanne learned that God is doing His thing completely without us at Anna Maria College! They held a fundraiser and now have donations all set and ready to go towards more kits! The spirit is at work and God is amazing! Suzanne also spoke with a group of very enthusiastic teens at Nashoba Young life.

Ellen spoke at Wachusett Regional High School's Student Council and they are debating whether or not to get involved. We are all very interested to see how God is going to use these students. Last but not least, there are several speaking engagements lined up this week for Lynn Kobus and I, including the youth group at Holden Chapel.

Hello everyone and welcome to the CMAA Blog! So far Central Mass AIDS Africa is off to a great start and we are excited to announce that we already have 73 kits sponsored! That is enough to provide 14 caregivers with enough kits to last them and their patients an entire year!

This past week has been focused mainly on generating interest for the program throughout the area. On Wednesday, Suzanne Faucher and I (Elaina Vermeulen) spoke at the Hope Chapel Youth Group and the response was very positive. Many kids took donation envelopes and we are hopeful that they will go out and get more kits sponsored.

On Thursday, Lynn Kobus and I went into Worcester to the Ignite college ministry at Belmont Street Baptist Church and shared with them about the fight against AIDS in Africa and how CMAA is trying to help. Albeit some minor technological difficulties, it went quite well and there was a lot of enthusiasm from the college kids we talked to.

This weekend, everyone on the team took shifts manning the Central Mass AIDS Africa booth at the Sterling Fair. A fair amount of people stopped in, some to donate, many who wanted to learn more about what it is we're doing, and others to tell us about their own involvement in Africa or the medical field. Some people have amazing stories. Though we didn't raise much money at the Fair, it was definitely a crucial step in getting the word out and making connections.

Overall, the first few weeks/days of this program have been a success. However, the goal for Central Mass AIDS Africa is to have 500 kits sponsored by the middle of October. So go out and get those kits sponsored!
